Hello everybody! My name is Darby Easy, and I am from the stunningly beautiful capital city of Canada, Ottawa. I was originally raised on the East Coast of Nova Scotia in Canada but moved to Ottawa in 2012 to purse my bachelor's degree at the University of Ottawa.
I have worked for several years as a preschool teacher at private centers around Ottawa and I fell in love with the education field because of it. I grew to adore the children I worked with and looked forward to going into work every day to see them. I absolutely loved the children who came and went through my preschool and because of those experiences I decided to become a teacher. I completed a bachelor's degree in Psychology in 2016 with a minor in French with the hopes that I would be able to use the knowledge from that degree to further my career as a teacher.
I have also studied several languages in my life and am fluent in two: English and French. While in university I also studied Russian and German. Because of these loves for languages I of course was drawn to Mandarin. I have absolutely loved learning it and cannot wait to be even better at it!
Ottawa is a fantastic city with so much to do, but I’ve always wanted to aim higher! So it made so much sense that I would come to China, a place with so much opportunity, culture, beauty and adventure! Finding JESIE was a stroke of luck for me. I am so lucky and happy to be able to work with the fantastic people at JESIE. It’s been an incredibly amazing experience getting to meet them and work for them because of the amount of support and assistance they give you. I teach grades 1, 2 and 3 in two different schools here in Nanjing and the kids are so amazing; they are smart, friendly and so energetic!
In my free time you’re likely to find me going for long walks through the city, spending time with friends, working out at the kickboxing gym or simply curled up with a coffee and some good movies.
Nanjing is a fantastic city, so beautiful and full of things to do and I’m so incredibly thankful to the amazing staff I get to work with and the friends I’ve made here! It truly was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
